My name is Chuck Harvey.
I'm 68 years old and live on windy hill top in Wyoming. My
wife, Ellen, and I have been married 47 years. We have 2 grown
sons and 3 wonderful grandchildren, all teenagers. I have a bachelor's degree in Business Management. Our family farmed in
the central valley of California for many years. During this period, we had a side line business selling specialty tractors and equipment for orchard and vineyard use. When we sold
the farm, we joined US Peace Corps in southern Africa, working on a
USAID project at a small college. We often say, the kids grew up and
the parents left home.
I was active in Boy Scouts as a boy. I've been a Cub Master, Scout Master and trainer for the Boy Scouts of America when my sons were young. Other groups that I've been in include California Farm Bureau, Flying Farmers, Civil Air Patrol, Toastmasters, Lion's Club, Rotary Club in the US and in southern Africa, the National Rifle Association of America and the Flying Samaritans. The Flying Samaritans gave me the opportunity to fly medical personnel into Mexico for clinics. I'm a commercial, multi-engine, instrument rated pilot.
I was elected to public office and served on the board of directors of our irrigation district. This was a paid and benefited position that allowed me to interact with my constituents and I was responsible for making decisions about the large sums of money needed for the operation, maintenance and construction of new projects. I've been a registered Republican since age 21 when I worked on Barry Goldwater's campaign. My interest is politics and human affairs runs deep and long. I feel compelled to write this blog.
